Jewish Shofar – Traditional Ram’s Horn Jewish Shofar. A Shofar is a ram’s horn used for Jewish religious purposes. Shofar-blowing is incorporated in synagogue services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In post-Biblical times, the shofar was enhanced in its religious use because of the ban on playing musical instruments as a sign of mourning for the destruction of the Temple.
